History of Jenks Water Well Service

C.A. (Charley) Jenks founded Jenks Water Well Service in 1895 in West Edmond. Charley traded a corn sheller and a team of mules for a horse powered drilling rig. He also owned a sawmill in Oklahoma City, a custom thrashing business, and a cotton gin in Mulhall Oklahoma. Sometime around 1900 Charley purchased a steam powered drill rig and engine. He used the same steam engine in his other family businesses that he operated. A saw mill in Oklahoma City as well as a custom thrashing business and a cotton gin in Mulhall Oklahoma.

My well started hissing at the well head, so after getting recommendations, I called Jenks. They were busy with multiple calls but told me a repairman would be there late afternoon. He came and found the damage and also discovered my tank was bad—which if it had gone on too long would have burned out my pump. Thankfully they had a tank in stock, so a crew brought the new tank out and all four of them worked late to get the repair and install done. This was a Friday evening and I’m sure they had other things they’d rather do, but they didn’t grumble or complain about any of it. When I discovered another problem the next day, Jenks sent out a repairman as soon as we were available, and he took care of the issue in 45 minutes. All the men who came out were knowledgable, friendly and respectful. I highly recommend this company. I know I’ll call on them again when needed.
